13th AEEE Conference

The Spanish Association for the Energy Economics (AEEE) promotes its XIII Annual Conference in face of the challenging agreements adopted in Paris at the 21st Conference of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP21), to encourage an open debate on energy transition and sustainable development among academics and practitioners.
The 13th AEEE Conference is held on February 1st and 2nd at the University of Zaragoza. The principal aim of the Conference is fostering, , the analysis of the latest R&D results achieved by researchers and practitioners on carbon emissions reduction linked to the energy sector, and a profound debate about the necessary measures and policies to put in practice the international agreements in the long term (2020, 2030, 2050), from an economic and technology framework.
The European Union, which generates around 10% of global emissions, has been leading the international negotiation process over the last decade and has taken progressive steps towards a zero-emissions economy, with consumers and industry as main actors.

The European energy sector is one of the a key sectors for the low-carbon economy to achieve the transition from the current energy model to a new one based on the circular economy principles to cover the energy demand and the society needs in a sustainable, safe and ethical manner.
In this scenario, the 13th AEEE Conference provides a forum to debate the sustainable innovations for the energy industry and the legal framework, as well as applied practices and standards of circular economy to be implemented in the energy sector throughout the transition to the new shared model based on ethical energy consumption.
